How to Make Money in EVE Online
How to Make Money in EVE Online
Unlike any other MMORPG, EVE Online has an interstellar, futuristic corporate focus. Rather than guilds or clans, EVE has corporations and agencies. As with any corporate world, it is important for players to learn how to make money in EVE Online.
EVE Online features a variety of ways to make money. Creative players can even combine money-making methods to come up with more possibilities.
- Mining – Mining is a great way to make money in EVE Online, especially for new players. Mining can be a small solo effort or a large, corporate-based strip mining operation. Because mining does not require much skill or knowledge, new players can use this to begin filling their account with interstellar currency (ISK).
- Trading – While trading provides the opportunity to make big money in EVE Online, it is not the easiest method. Some trade routes are dangerous, and players can lose everything as easily as they can make a profit. Trading can take time, and there are always pirates who are waiting to relieve players of excess items.
- Missions – There are different types of missions in EVE Online, and each type requires different skills and equipment to complete it. Players should take care to ensure they have everything required before attempting a mission. Completing a mission earns rewards that include money, items, standing and loyalty points. Rewards vary according to agent level and mission quality, but nearly always include cash.
- Production – Not all players engage in production, but it is a good way to make money in EVE Online. Players can acquire blueprints and resources, and then begin production of items that other players need. The trick to really making money in production is to find an area where there is very little competition for sales but enough resources for production.
- Careers – There are several career possibilities in EVE Online, all of which are good avenues for making money. Even better, the careers are not job roles that are set in stone, but have room for players to choose their own path based on their available skills. For example, someone who is good with a gun could act as a guard for miners and trade runners, hunt pirates, or become a bounty hunter. In this game, players are really only limited by their own imaginations.
- Loan sharking – Making loans to other players is an excellent way to make money. Players can make secured loans, which require collateral, and unsecured loans, and they set their own interest rates. How business is done is entirely up to the player. It is even possible to hire an enforcer or an assassin when loans are not repaid on time.
While EVE Online does have structure and rules, the game is not so concentrated with either that players find it difficult to survive. There are no limits to how players do business, or what business involvements they have. There is no limit to how many skills a player can have and develop. There are also no limits on ways to make money in EVE Online. Everything depends solely on the creativity and initiative of the individual player.
