How to Make Money in EQ2
How to Make Money in EQ2
As with any MMORPG, it is necessary to learn how to make money in Everquest 2. Money is essential for purchasing items that are needed throughout a character’s adventure. Fortunately, EQ2 tends to have a healthy economy, which makes it easy for players to earn enough money to afford the items they need.
The following are some of the methods a player can use to make money in EQ2:
- Tradeskills – Tradeskills allow a character to make money by creating items to sell to other players. In order to be profitable with tradeskills, however, it is usually necessary for characters to be able to harvest their own raw materials. Buying the raw materials can often get too expensive for created items to be profitable. Keep in mind, though, that players can only choose one trade and it cannot be changed later.
- Harvesting – Harvesting raw materials is not only useful when attempting to make money with a tradeskill, but it is also a good way to make money in EQ2. Other players need the raw materials for their tradeskill, and not all players can harvest their own, making it possible to sell harvested materials to other players to make money. The trick to making money with harvesting, though, is to pay attention to the needs of the server because what sells at high prices may not be the same on every server.
- Quests – Because the economy of EQ2 is so healthy, it is possible for most players to make enough money for what they need by completing quests. EQ2 offers players a wide variety of quests with differing lengths, purposes and rewards. Of course, players can always sell the items they get as quest rewards as a way to make money.
- Mobs – As with any game of this type, there are Mobs, which are mobile, non-player characters whose only function in the game is to be killed. When the mobs are killed, they drop loot, consisting of coins and items. Players can also find hot spots, where there are multiple mobs, and spend time killing and collecting to build their wealth. Targeting lower level mobs allows for quicker kills, which allows players to collect loot much faster.
- Selling – Players can make money in EQ2 by selling items, whether obtained from a quest or made through a tradeskill. Brokers in your home city charge a 20% markup, while black market brokers in other cities charge a 40% markup to sell your items for you. In addition, sales containers can be placed in your home, allowing other players to visit your home to make purchases, which avoids the broker fee. Sales containers are made of rare woods, though, so players should be aware that they can be expensive. Whether using a broker or selling from your home, the number of item slots available for selling depends on the size of the character’s home.
It is not difficult to make money in EQ2, and there are several options for doing so. Of course, a player’s earning ability increases with their level and skills, but even the newest player will find it easy to afford the items they need.
