Eve Online Strategies for Players
Eve Online is not like all the other MMOG's out there. There are no experience points for characters by performing actions. All players learn skills and these skills take time to learn. The players earn skill points according to what skill the player is training in.
It is strongly advised that all beginning players go through the Eve Online tutorial first. The tutorial teaches the player the basic process of mining and refining ore, how to interact with corporate agents, and getting your first time with ship-to-ship combat that is supervised. Players also learn about the interstellar market, buy and install upgrades for their ship, and of course, the most important, earning money for the ship.
Try these tips and tricks especially if you are just learning how to play Eve Online.
- Never leave your keyboard. It is never safe to assume your character or the ship is safe.
- If space has very low security, where the status says 0.5 or below, than it is considered an unsecured area, that is not under any type of protection. You can still enter this area but do so at your own risk.
- Definitely insure all ships, especially the expensive ones. If you are a frequent player, it is advised to buy the “platinum” insurance.
- Do not expect Concord to cover you every step of the way. Keep yourself protected from any potential crimes or attacks or risk losing of your ship. Concord will get the offender, but often cannot make it in time to prevent a crime from happening.
- Make a habit of using map filters. By using, for example, “ships destroyed in the last hour” you would be able to spot player pirate camps.
- When playing the game for the first time in a day, jump in on the chat channel to see what has been going on.
- Always keep auto-scanner on to alert you to any potential threats that may be in scanning range.
- Make sure your ship is aligned with your warp out destination when you are mining. This way you do not have to waste time turning your ship around and can make a quick getaway. This should be considered an absolute must when you have a battleship.
- Ensure a quick get away by making sure the autopilot is set up with coordinates to a different system. This way all you have to do to get out quickly and safely is hit the Autopilot button.
- Some Stations, even the low security spaces, have sentry guns. When things get too rough, try and get to a station without sentry guns, such as Jump Gate.
- If you do not know someone, consider him or her a hostile and watch him or her at all times. If they are not so much as a friend or acquaintance then assume they are out to kill you and keep an eye on them.
- If you happen to be at a hostile gate and you are cloaked and stationary, make it a habit to hit the micro warp drive. Manually set MWD for a 10-second burn time. By the time you are visible you have arrived at your destination.
