A world that is constantly changing, growing, and receiving new avatars (people) is what you will get when you start living in the virtual world of The Second Life. This is a 3-D world much like the real world, but you can do anything that you want to do in the Second life. This role-playing game starts with you creating an avatar. This will be your identity through out this fascinating world that is known as the online Sims game.
Your avatar can be anything you want it to be. You can change the color of your hair, down to what type of nose you have. Not to worry though, you can change your avatars appearances anytime you want, so, if you are not happy the first time, try again. You can even change the clothes you, the avatar, wears.
After you have created your individual avatar, you are ready to explore the expansive virtual world of The Second Life. This world is huge and you can socialize with other avatars. You have a lot of chance for socializing, as there are over 9,000,000 residents, from around the world, which live in this exciting role-playing world. There are a few tips that will help you to start exploring the world, created by its residents, of the Second Life. The following are some tips to get you started:
- One tool you have access to is a web map. This tool will allow you to see where the hot spots are and to find upcoming events. All you need to do on the Second Life web map is click on it and look for the little green dots. Once you click on the dot, you will see information as to what is going on.
- After you search your web map, you can access the search menu and learn more about the information you saw on the green dots.
- Another part of exploring is interacting with the other residents of the Second Life. To do this all you need to do is right click on an avatar and you will have access to their profile.
Besides exploring the Second Life, there is also the option of owning virtual real estate. Of course, buying land on The Second Life may cost you some real money, but, you really are not part of the virtual world of parties and gaming until you do buy some land. Owning virtual land will give you the option of building houses, businesses, and stores. In addition, as with any world, you have the ability to create just about anything and sell it to other residents. You can also add a personality or behaviors to your creations in order to make them unique. The Second Life will offer you many tools to enhance your creative abilities.
Probably the best part of the Second life is that you are able to have fun. There are always a party, multiplayer games, shopping, and castles to attend and/or explore. If you can not find something fun and exciting to do on the Second Life, then you are just not trying.
