Make Money in City of Villains
Make Money in City of Villains
Rather than being an expansion of City of Heroes, City of Villains is a stand-alone game that interacts with its counterpart. The city is full of villains who are all trying to gain infamy through their nefarious deeds. Of course, new players always want to know how to make money in City of Villains.
It is important to point out that in City of Villains players gain infamy, which works the same way as making money. Infamy points can be traded for inspirations, which improve effectiveness, or enhancements, which are used to improve skills. Villains rely on their superpowers, so there are no weapon or armor upgrades. Item drops are made up of enhancements and inspirations, both of which can be sold or traded to other players.
There are a few methods that players can use to make money in City of Villains:
- Missions – A mission in City of Villains is the same thing as a quest in other MMORPGs. There are several types of missions, ranging from quick Schemes to Heists and Mayhem missions. Missions may include robbing a bank, busting up a rival gang, infiltrating another group or secret lair, or any other sinister and deceitful deed. Completing a mission earns the player experience points and infamy, and infamy awarded is higher as tasks get more difficult. Some missions also feature items drops, and rewards may include earned badges.
- Auction Houses – A wise player will take advantage of the auction houses. Unwanted items and recipes can be sold in the auction house to make money, with uncommon items typically bringing a higher price than common items. In addition, it is possible to find items for sale in the auction house at prices lower than you would receive by selling to a non-player character.
- Reselling – Pay attention to the market. Item prices fluctuate throughout the day, making it possible to buy an item at a low price in the morning and then sell it for profit in the afternoon. Items can also be purchased at a low price in the auction house and then resold to a non-player character for a higher price. Players can make quite a bit of money in City of Villains simply by checking prices several times a day for 3 to 4 days and keeping track of the price changes.
- PvP – Otherwise known as Player v. Player, PvP involves entering one of the designated PvP zones and battling other players or groups of players. There are rewards to be gained by winning PvP battles, and the rewards are specific to those battles. This helps keep players from feeling as though they have to play PvP or PvE (player v. environment) in order to gain infamy and get rewards.
As with any other MMORPG, no one method of making money works for everyone. The best option for any player is to try out the different methods and see what works for them. Once players have these methods down, they will find there is no one right way to make money in City of Villains.
