Make Money in Dungeons & Dragons Online

Make Money in Dungeons & Dragons Online

The paper version of Dungeons & Dragons is probably the most well known role-playing game ever created. Even those who do not play RPGs have heard of D&D. Not surprisingly, players tend to flock toward Dungeons & Dragons Online, the online version of the paper game. As with other games of this type, players always want to know how to make money in Dungeons & Dragons Online.

There are several ways to make money in DDO, and some work better than others do for different characters. Some of the most popular methods are:
  • Quests – What D&D game would be complete if there were no quests? In the online version, quests can net collectables, items from boxes, chest gear, and the rewards given for completing the quest. Everything that you do not want or need can be sold to other players to make money. DDO is set up so that lower level quests can be completed by both new and veteran players without the need for a group.
  • Sell, sell, sell – In DDO, players can sell items to tavern keepers and brokers, as well as to other players through the auction house. Check around before selling, though, because tavern keepers do not always pay the best price, especially for more desirable items. In the Dungeons and Dragons Online economy, the demand for an item and the supply of the item determine the selling price of the item. In other words, common items will sell for less unless there is a high demand for that item, while rare items will sell for more unless there is low demand. When deciding whether to sell to a broker or through the auction house, remember the auction house fees. It is possible to end up with more money by selling for less to a broker, depending on how much of the profits are eaten up by auction house fees.
  • Reselling – It is possible to make money in DDO by buying low and selling high. When setting the selling price, however, a good rule of thumb is to sell for slightly less than everyone else in the area. The lower price helps to ensure that your item sells quickly.
  • Healing – For those with the ability to heal others, like clerics, it is a way to make money. Granted, those characters are also expensive characters, so the money made by healing others serves more to help with character maintenance than with filling the bank. It is an option, however, to consider if you are frantically trying to make money to afford the cleric.

Every character is different, with different attributes and abilities. The basic methods of making money, with the exception of healing, will work for every player, but each method will work better for some players than it does for other players. Because of that, there is no one best way to make money in Dungeons and Dragons Online. Instead, players should take the time to figure out what works best for their character.
