How to Make Money in World of Warcraft

How to Make Money in World of Warcraft

Like it or not, players must learn to make money in World of Warcraft. Money is essential for purchasing needed equipment, as well as buying and selling at the auction house. As in the real world, money is a necessary evil for surviving the adventure.

Fortunately, there are several ways to make money in World of Warcraft. Some methods are more profitable than others are, and the best options for each character seem to depend entirely on that character.
  • Quest – A quest is a task given to a player by a non-player character, although there are dropped or fixed items that give out quests. Quests are a straightforward way to make money in World of Warcraft because the reward for many quests is money. Some items that are given as rewards can be sold to make money, buy many of them bind to the character.
  • Killing mobs – Mobs, or mobile objects, exist in World of Warcraft to be killed. Their destruction can provide experience, a quest objective, and/or loot. Of course, it also possible to stumble onto corpses that can be looted, but it is usually easier to get money or items by killing the mob yourself. Few characters are going to leave anything behind for the next character.
  • Grind – Grinding is a way to make large amounts of money quickly. Grinding involves finding an area full of mobs that can be killed one at a time, but that spawn faster than they are being killed. Once you find one of those areas, simply spend some time there killing mobs and gathering loot. If you target lower level mobs, they can be killed quickly, allowing you to gather money faster. Some of these areas also have recurring chests and occasional elites, which nets you even more loot.
  • Auction – Players can make money in World of Warcraft using the Auction House. Players can put items up for sale for a fee, and other players can bid on your item. You can also include a Buyout price, which allows other players to skip the auction process and buy your item immediately for a set price.
  • Professions – Characters can learn trade skills and crafts, which are professions. Any character can have two primary professions and unlimited secondary professions. Professions can help a character gear up, but can also be used to make money through the selling of crafts. Typically, professions fall into one of three categories: 1) gathering, which involves harvesting items from resources in the game world, 2) crafting, or making items from ingredients, and 3) service, or any profession that focuses on providing a service rather than an item.  All three categories involve items that can be sold to make money. As your character’s level and skill level increases, so does their ability to learn high-end crafting, which brings in more money.

It is important that players learn to make money in World of Warcraft, and there are several ways that can be accomplished. If something does not work well for your character, you can always try any of the other options available.
